Home fire
safety just became easier with the new DuPont™ Self-Charging Smoke
Alarm. No batteries are required because it runs and charges off the
electricity of your home. Installation is simple – just screw it
into a ceiling light socket. Re-install the light bulb into the
smoke alarm to have a light source and smoke alarm in one! Protect
the highest risk areas in your home such as laundry rooms,
basements, furnace rooms and storage areas. To test the alarm, just
flip the light switch.
Always read the manual before use.

The science of
smoke alarm technology
This smoke alarm is designed using
ionization technology which allows it to detect fast-flaming
fires that spread quickly. There are two basic types of
smoke alarms - IONIZATION Type and PHOTOELECTRIC type.
- IONIZATION smoke alarms
are generally more effective at detecting fast, flaming
fires - fires which consume combustible materials rapidly
and spread quickly. Sources of these fires may include paper
burning in a waste basket, or grease fire in the kitchen.
- PHOTOELECTRIC smoke alarms
are generally more effective at detecting slow, smoldering
fires - fires which can smoulder for hours before bursting
into flames. Sources of these fires may include cigarettes
burning in couches or bedding.
For maximum protection, use both
types of smoke alarms on each level of your home. The National
Fire Protection Association recommends smoke alarms be installed
on every level of your home.
